Welcome to Your New Epoxy Floor!

We’re excited to welcome you to the Epoxy Masters family! Your new epoxy floor has been expertly installed and is designed to provide a beautiful, durable, and easy-to-maintain surface for years to come.

We’ve compiled these simple cleaning and care guidelines to help you get the most out of your investment.

Cleaning & Maintenance Overview

One of the best features of an epoxy floor is its low maintenance. While incredibly durable, proper care will help maintain the finish and extend the life of your floor.

A small amount of regular attention will keep it looking as good as new.

General Cleaning Tips

Dust & Loose Dirt:

  • Use a clean dust mop or soft microfibre broom regularly.

  • Ensure the mop or broom is free from debris to avoid scratching the surface.

Mopping:

  • For deeper cleaning, use a bucket of hot water with a small amount of mild dishwashing liquid.

  • Apply with a clean microfibre or soft foam mop.

  • Avoid using excessive water — a light damp mop is all that’s needed.

Spills & Stains:

  • Wipe up any spills (oil, coolant, fuel, chemicals) immediately with a soft cloth or paper towel.

  • While the floor is stain-resistant, spills left for extended periods may cause damage or discolouration.

After Installation – Important Curing Times

It is critical to allow your floor to fully cure before use:

🕒 48 hours minimum — Light, careful foot traffic
🕒 7 days minimum — Driving vehicles or placing heavy items

DO NOT:

  • Walk on or touch areas still curing

  • Allow garage door seals to touch wet epoxy

  • Wash the floor with water until fully cured (minimum 14 days, or longer if advised by us)

Key “Do’s & Don’ts”

✅ Do:

✔️ Sweep regularly with a soft broom or dust mop
✔️ Clean up spills immediately
✔️ Mop occasionally with mild dish soap and warm water
✔️ Use a soft squeegee for excess water if needed
✔️ If parking a vehicle for long periods, consider using small mats under tires to prevent tyre marks

🚫 Don’t:

✘ Use a pressure washer
✘ Drag heavy items across the floor — always lift
✘ Use citrus-based, acidic, or harsh chemical cleaners
✘ Leave the garage door open for long periods (exposing the floor to weather)
✘ Use abrasive tools or scouring pads
✘ Perform “burnouts” or skids — this will damage the coating

Tyre Marks — Why They Happen & How to Manage Them (Apply Only if you choose Polyurethane Top Coat)

Tyre marks can occur when tires heat up during driving. The heat releases plasticisers from the rubber, which can leave marks on the epoxy coating (a process called “plasticiser migration”).

How to prevent & manage tyre marks:
✅ Clean tyre marks regularly — don’t allow them to build up
✅ Use a clean microfibre cloth with methylated spirits to gently remove fresh marks
✅ If the vehicle is stationary for long periods, place a mat or cardboard under each tyre

Important: While tyre marks are normal, regular cleaning is key to preventing permanent staining.

Chemical Spills

Certain chemicals can damage epoxy coatings — especially battery acid, brake fluid,  and other highly corrosive agents.

If spills occur:
✅ Clean up immediately
✅ Do not allow to “settle” on the surface
✅ For high-risk items (motorcycles, battery compartments), consider using a protective mat under the vehicle

Final Tips for Longevity

  • Regular light cleaning helps maintain gloss and finish

  • Keep the floor free from loose debris to avoid micro-scratching

  • Avoid constant abrasion — e.g. parking a motorcycle in the exact same spot without protection

  • Follow the above guidance to maintain warranty coverage
